Biblical Voter Guide 2026

One of the great privileges with which God has blessed us in American society is
the freedom to vote. This is a God-given right that God expects us to steward for His glory. In Romans 13:7 the Bible says, “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom.” Believers have the unique opportunity in America to vote for candidates and policies that most align with Scripture and can most perpetuate the principles that can bring God’s blessing on a nation.

Beyond the biblical mandate, there is a civic mandate for the citizens of this country to vote. Our government was formed to function by citizen participation. Men and women have died to secure to us this freedom. Therefore, it behooves us to exercise our right to vote, however much we may disagree with candidates or issues.

As you prepare to vote this November, you ought to take the time to do the research to make sure that every vote you cast is in alignment with your values. With the growth of AI, it can be difficult to discern which resources are reliable. So, you must exercise much caution in doing research to inform your vote.

First off, be sure to utilize the 2026 State Ballot Information Booklet put out by the Legislative Council of the Colorado General Assembly. This is a non-partisan booklet that presents the issues citizens will be voting on in Colorado, explains them in detail and presents the case for “both sides.” You must use discernment in reading this booklet, as there are many voices that seek to intentionally mislead you or distract you from the real issue that is being considered with each measure.

Above all other resources, the single most important resource we ought to depend on as believers is the Bible. Every candidate and every issue should be evaluated through the lens of Scripture. So, in the following words, I will summarize what the Bible says about each measure that will be placed on the ballot this year, and then share my personal opinion on each issue.

To be clear, these opinions are my own as a citizen and as a Christian. These thoughts do not necessarily reflect the views of any other organizations to which I am connected with in service. With that being said, I hope this resource will help as you conduct your own research and form your own opinion on the issues at hand.

As a final word, let me remind you that our ultimate hope is not in an elected official or the approval of a law of man; rather, it is in the Lord. God is Sovereign over all the affairs of men. Psalm 75:6-7 tells us, “For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.” Take comfort in the fact that, no matter how bleak matters may seem down here, there is still a God in heaven whose throne sits higher than any other on this earth.

Ultimately, our hope is the gospel (good news) of our great King Jesus Christ. No matter what the outcome of this election, we must continue to share the good news of Jesus to a world that desperately needs to hear it. It is the gospel of Jesus alone that can bring about the lasting change that our nation and our world so desperately needs.

Tech Timeout // Lessons Learned from a Digital Fast

Recently, God placed it on my heart to step away (fast) from all media for a month. This burden was born within me after I read Charlie Kirk's last book on the sabbath. In it he makes a compelling case for just how much the digital age is devastating our society. The incessant dopamine drip of digital consumption is fracturing our relationships, robbing us of sleep, ravaging our health, hollowing out our souls and districting us from what life is really all about. Honestly, I really didn't think I had a big problem with media consumption. But, in the process of stepping away I discovered that it had a far deeper hold on my life than I had realized. Stepping away was far more challenging than I ever imagined it would be. But, in the process of doing so, God taught me some valuable lessons. Please allow me to share some of them with you here. A media fast enhances your walk with God. While spending daily time with God has been my practice for quite some time, the subtle temptati...

What You Miss When You Miss Church (Part 1)

The gathering together of God's people in a public assembly is one of the closest things to heaven that we can experience on this earth.  There is nothing in this world quite so sweet and precious as a band of believers gathering together to worship Jesus, study God's Word, share burdens, pray for one another, make decisions of faith and declare the gospel.  The longer I live, the more important and significant the gathering of the church becomes to me. Because of this, it truly astounds me how anyone would want to miss this special gathering of the church.  As a pastor, it absolutely confounds me to see people who claim to be struggling continue to find reasons not to come to the exact place where they could get the encouragement and help they need for what they are facing. Certainly, going to church does not make one better than anyone else, yet the public assembly of the church is something that God has commanded His people to "not forsake" for a reason. (Hebrews 1...
